Display Method Setting
This is pertaining to the SVN build of desmume since the Display Method setting was added post 0.9.5. What exactly does this setting do? I was switching between Hardware and Software modes and I didn't exactly see too much of a difference, so I was just wondering.

It changes whether directdraw is requested to use hardware or software for scaling the window. It is provided as an option for XP users to disable filtering on resizing, and I guess for >= vista users to use as some kind of last ditch diagnostic tweak in case of weird display problems.
