So, I've been using desmume for a while now with Vista and never had a problem with it. I just installed Windows 7 on my computer, but I had to do a clean install since the upgrade was refusing to work. So I have reinstalled most of my programs, like video codecs, browser, etc. I didn't re-download desmume, it was still in a folder on my hard drive. Anyway, many games with desmume can not display certain graphics on the touch screen. For example, in phantom hourglass, I can select the menu and look at items, but the main play area is completely black. Could there possibly be a layer that is de-selected, or another setting was changed when installing Windows 7? I'm wondering inf anyone else has had a problem after doing a clean install of Windows 7. Thanks

Also, I was installing a 64-bit copy of Windows 7 after using 32-bit with vista. Maybe this has something to do with the issue?

Not sure if this has something to do with 64bit or not. I use Win7 32bit and am having no issues with DeSmuME.
Try downloading a fresh copy, unpack to a new folder, check if it's working. If not, make sure all your drivers are up to date (namely your graphics driver).
If it still fails, post computer specs.

check your 3D renderer (config>3D settings). sometimes, when OpenGL was selected, but is not available, it goes to NONE instead.

Me too, I have no problem running desmume on Windows 7 Professional X32-bit virtual machine.
My only problem is, it's a bit slower on a virtual machine than on my physical machine.

Hey guys, thanks for the help, it seems to work now. I re-installed my GPU drivers and also checked the 3D setting in Desmume. Seems to do the trick. Hopefully this helps other people when upgrading. Thanks again.

Manage to solve my slowness problem by setting frameskip to 5.
DeSmuMe is really the best DS emulator today, because it supports Windows 7 and it can even run on a virtual environment like a virtual machine.

and why would you run it in a virtual machine to begin with?

Virtual machines will ALWAYS work slower than physical machines. That's not a problem, nut, that's logic.

Just a test before upgrading my actual desktop to Windows 7 Professional. But like I said, using frameskip 5 speeds up the emulator a bit, at least in a playable speed. The using frameskip method in the FAQ really helps especially on a slow machines, so anyone running Windows 7 had experience the slowness problem, use the frameskip method explained in the FAQ. Also migrating saves between my virtual machine and my desktop works, I can continue the save point I had made with Windows 7 virtual machine in my desktop!

use your computing skills to locate the dsv for the game which was created by 0.9.4 (probably the same directory as the rom) and change the desmume 0.9.5 path configuration for save files to point to that directory
