The World Ends With You, Non-functional

On the 64-bit version for Linux, The first two splash screens come up (Squenix and Jupiter, then Criware) and then the title screen fails to load, (mostly completely black with a small blue graphical glitch at the bottom center of the screen that fades in.)  I can't even get desmume to run properly under my VirtualBox installation of Windows XP, so I don't know if this issue is related to my OS and platform.
