Pokemon: All Generation 4 Games Weird Sprite Glitch

Whenever I play any of the gen 4 games I get a variety of weird glitches where either my player character or an npc's sprite in the overworld is messed up. Like sometimes they will just be a white box, or the colors will be all messed up, or the sprite is cut in half. I know you can just save and reset the game but I was looking for a permanent solution because it freaks me out (yes I know it might be stupid that it freaks me out but I can't help it). Any help is appreciated. Also I am playing on an older version I got from a pchal video but I have had this issue on newer versions).

you are using a version of desmume that's almost 10 years old by now. stop doing that.
