Pokémon Platinum Pre-Existing Save Issue

I started a new playthrough because I accidentally reset my playthrough by fat fingering the hot keys to activate a save state and reset everything. So I pressed start new game in the menu and only used save states and not the in-game saves because I guess I didn't learn my lesson. However, now I'm trying to use the Explorer Kit, but I am told when the game tries to save that there is a pre-existing file which can be deleted at the start menu by pressing up+select+B button. So I guess my question is is there a way to delete the pre-existing game file and still keep my save state and then save with the new save? I've already tried deleting the dsv save in the Battery folder, but the save file exist within the save state so each time I load the state the old save file shows up.

There's no way to do that.
