Error on loading state file even though the save file is in my files

So as the title says. I get an error message when I try to load my main save state. It's the same message that comes when I try to load a state file that I don't have. The thing is that I clearly have the state file in my files. I even tried to boot the file from desmume file settings. All my other files works as they should, so I don't get why specifically the one I mainly used is broken. The game im playing is pokemon renegade platinum (romhack of pokemon platinum). It really isn't a big deal if I don't get the save back, I mainly want to avoid this in the future. the version of desumue im using is 0.9.11 (newest versjon of it too).

Then you clearly have the state file in "my files" in the wrong place or with the wrong name, or mixed up between games (perhaps hack versions). Drag the state you think is correct into desmume or use the file menu rather than trying to use the hotkey if you're sure you're right

Re: Error on loading state file even though the save file is in my files

I have tried to drag it in to Desmume. The weird thing is that nothing happends. All my other state files works as intended when doing this, but for some reason, my main state file won't work. I think my file is in the right place, since it's located in the same folder as all my other working state files.

Re: Error on loading state file even though the save file is in my files

maybe it just got corrupted. sometimes that happens. I've found two bits flipped from cosmic rays in files on my disk during my life. this is why they make ECC ram. faulty memory can glitch this way too. you have to make backups of important documents and confirm that they're correctly saved immediately after saving them, if it's _really_ important.
