VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

As I posted a bug that got deleted, but still is true, I decided to post it here, with better pictures.

Vista seems to corrupt graphics, and even weirder, the exported screenshot looks perfectly fine. Guess it's some directx10 stuff.

Shash: If your hardware PW looks like the left one then I suggest you buy a new DS smile (half of these lines were NOT the scanlines effect)

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

I read the bug submission rather fast, and didn't get the exact problem, so I just closed, as it's not the first time someone reports that lines as something buggy...

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Could you maybe explain why the lines aren't corrupted in the screenshot (is it the same render technique?)
I might be able to take a quick look but not today...

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Isn't the screenshot in the middle from a capture of the real DS ?

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

No. It's clear as the brightness values are too high and the play icon isn't on the button. It's the simple "quick screenshot" feature.

Disabled OpenGL driver, got this right before crash:

The anomaly prevails! WTF?? I'm really confused as the pixel values seem to be correct in the GPU_Screen variable...

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Those edges look much thicker on Vista than on XP...could Vista be resizing the image? Trying to keep the same window size but because the edges need to be thicker for Aero it's shrinking and resizing the actual game slightly causing distortions? I have resized windows incorrectly before and weird glitches like that distortion show up and that's what it looks like to me...I am probably very wrong though.

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Yes you are right SCHUMI-4-EVA. It was the ratio... After all, the font seems to be bigger in Vista, and the menu takes another line, which effectively shrinks the screens. Thanks to my patch I have set up a resolution that works perfectly which actually opens every time I open DeSmuME.

Details:
[Window]
WindowWidth=272
WindowHeight=459

(The ratio here is 1.6875, compared to 1.5 in all of the other OSes)

Thanks alot.

Cool, just glad I could FINALLY help someone. A little annoyed that I was not completely right with my reasoning...but bah it's cool that you got it fixed.

Nice screenshot  wink

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Nevertheless, you brought me to the understanding... I was just beginning to look in DX10...

My time officially ran out. I'll keep working on DeSmuME in the next week and in some of the following late nights of this month. I have many patch ideas, including my WIP dialog fix (tons of tiny additions which greatly improves debugging, emulating and option-changing ( tongue ) experience, the video capture fix/a new video capture system, my WIP Inter-Processor Communication (not IPC) for faster emulation without damaging original code, and many other things I have listed somewhere...

As expected, I'll be a bit less active in these forums (as 1 of every 3 posts is kinda mine).

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

I'm still having this problem. I'm using 0.6.4 64-bit (2007-04-01) from the 64-bit thread. It doesn't heed the window sizes in desmume.ini.

Why does this happen, anyway? Is the sizing code making assumptions about the window frame size which are only valid under XP?

Re: VISTA CORRUPTED GRAPHICS(New picture)

Nah, it only restores the default window size, and whenever you close it(not destroy), the last window size gets saved.
Works for me... Guess it wasn't implemented yet. Try my patch at the sourceforge project site.
