[Linux] Performance problems! On Windows it works perfectly.

Hello guys,

i'm using Linux Mint 15 MATE (based on Ubuntu) and the performance of desmume 0.9.8-1 is really bad.

I'm playing pokemon white edition and on Windows 7 the game works perfectly and totaly smooth.

But on Linux i got only ~28 fps and the game feels very slow, it's almost imbossible to play.

I tried to set the frameskip to 1 or higher, but i didn't help, the fps increased a little but still the game feeled slow.

My system: Intel E6750, AMD HD6850. I tried the fgrlx driver and the default driver for my GPU, that makes no different.

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hello, i have to say that i'm not very experienced with Linux.

When i open the Terminal and write that: desmume --cpumode=1

i get this Error:

Error parsing command line arguments: Unknown option --cpumode=1

sorry, my fault, try "desmume --cpu-mode=1"

also, you can use "desmume --help" for description command line options.

I get the same Error Message with this command:

Error parsing command line arguments: Unknown option --cpu-mode=1

edit: Yeah, when i type in desmume --help i see the commands, and unfortunately there is no command like "--cpu-mode=1" or something like this.

Re: [Linux] Performance problems! On Windows it works perfectly.

Can you tell me how to upgrade? On the download page i can only select the Windows or Mac Version.

Thank you for your help so far!

Re: [Linux] Performance problems! On Windows it works perfectly.

What are the correct steps to install it?

I extracted the file, then I moved in that extracted directory with the Terminal. I typed "./configure", then "make" and then "sudo make install", but it didn't work.

Edit: Finally i was able to install the new desmume version. There was missing a package named "libgtkglext1-dev". I run desmume with the command "--cpu-mode=1" and got a significant fps boost.

Still I'm not able to run Desmume Full Screen like in Windows 7, cause the FPS are bad and the game feels slow, but it's better than before.

One more question: Is it possible to set the "Primary Interpolation" to "None" as default? It always starts with HQ2xS and it looks comic-like.

Thank you for your help CrazyMax!! :-)
