Orcs & Elves Graphical Bugs

Hey there,

I was going to play Orcs & Elves the other day and found that OpenGL renderer makes dialogue nearly unreadable. I don't mind that, as I can switch to SoftRasterizer to read the text without problem.

My main concern lies with the lower screen, where graphics are drawn in the wrong order or not cleared while selecting the ingame menus. Have a few pics of this:

^ As soon as I enter the first level, I find that half of the lower screen is covered with the scroll of the intro sequence.

^ Things get worse when a dwarf ghost starts talking to me, as the weapon and armor indicators suddenly appear.

^ After some random toying with the ingame menus, I can get the lower screen to look even more garbled.

^ More random toying later, the weapons and armor indicator disappear from the lower screen and I am unable to determine if my armor is going to break.

^ This is the best screenshot I could get after toying even more with the ingame menus. This one resembles the proper appearance of the lower screen.

I don't think renderers have anything to do with this but, just in case, both of them exhibit the same behavior in the lower screen.

Played with Desmume r4228 x86.

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad ~2.4GHz
Memory: 3072MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 10

Re: Orcs & Elves Graphical Bugs

use a newer svn build and see if it helps. builds around that time (including the 0.9.8 release) had a bug which could cause something like that

Re: Orcs & Elves Graphical Bugs

Why yes, tried using r4378 and it solved the problem. Guess I was too lazy to update xD

Thank you.
