Will DeSmuME ever support multiple monitors?

Would be awesome to play it full screened on dual monitors. Will it ever happen?

Also, are there any plans to make multiplayer/wi fi functional?

I apologize if this has already been addressed elsewhere, but I looked and didn't see it. It should also be noted that my knowledge of DS emulators is very limited and DeSmuME is the only functional one that I know of so far.

1. no, but if you can make the window span across both monitors, then changing the display method from the config menu will help.

2. there are no plans in particular. I think you're the only person that wants this.

Re: Will DeSmuME ever support multiple monitors?

Hi,
Sorry for Pushing this old post, but i use 2 monitors for a very long time and it would be great to separate the two windows like on this pic.
maybe at:    View -> LCDs layout -> One LCD | Two LCD

this image is just a fake. i just open DeSmuME two times.

Re: Will DeSmuME ever support multiple monitors?

I created an account here on these forums just to post here and show my support for this.

Why can't we separate the two LCD's into two separate windows screens? All that I gather from the FAQ is "we don't want to, or we are not interested". WTF? This would be nothing but a good thing! I simply do not understand why the developers of desmume are soo vigilantly against doing something like this. Is it some form of elitist delusion of control? Nah, probably not. Again I reiterate - why don't we have this seemingly and comparatively simple feature? Why can't we have the two DS LCD's in separate windows? Dual monitor users (read: at least 50% of us) would be a lot happier. In fact not only do I question why they won't add this - I also question: Why was this feature not added years ago? Seems kind of essential. 2 LCD's on the device being emulated, therefore an option to put the 2nd LCD into a 2nd window. Seems like common sense. So I ask again - WHY?

Re: Will DeSmuME ever support multiple monitors?

because it isn't simple. the more finely tuned for one window desmume becomes, the more annoying it is to break it to work in two windows. its certainly possible. just not fun to program or valuable to the people who would be programming it. but thanks for adding your voice to the chorus, it increases the likelihood that it will happen sometime before the last ds crumbles to dust.

please dont confuse vigilant opposition and essentiality with apathy and luxury.

Fair enough. I just feel that if this could happen, it would be something amazing. Multi monitor users would be in heaven.

You are right, it is a good thing. I registered so that I can say I would love this feature. It's actually on no$zoomer. I'm sure if they can do it, so can these people. I love using desmume, but it seems the developers all think they are above others. The FAQ is full of "fuck off" answers. Talk about professional. Are these people all teens? Please implement this feature in your next release. Thanks.

Re: Will DeSmuME ever support multiple monitors?

In Final Fantasy IV intro you can see the correct separation ratio is important. You can never get the correct ratio when using two screens, so it's pointless and most people would be happy for a few hours then get bored and go back to single screen. You'd better get a flippable screen, so that you can use bigger zoom, altho I think 2.5x is already more than comfortable.

The only thing desmume is truly lacking is a TV mode filter. It does have a scanline filter but with all due respect it looks like shit and the other filters are simply laughable at best. Other than that this emulator is rock solid on the features department, and I haven't seen any flaw in the emulation.

i think some people would consider the idea of adding a tv mode filter to a handheld LCD console to be whats really laughable. just so you know.

defining the correct separation ratio is not important in most games. obviously its critical in some others, although "correct" is still a matter of opinion and varies between developer and console type.

As an alternative to dual monitors, you could try something likes this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media … isremote=0
It's a Monitor stand that swivels 90° so that you can make better use of your screen real estate while using DeSmuME.
