Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

This game is constantly changing textures in a way that thrashes our texture cache. It malfunctions and causes the emulator to run very slowly. This will probably be fixed some day.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

The game run above 55fps most of the time and no slowness for me and hardly any visually disruptive texture bugs.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

here's what I use:
ROM crc: 130E6AAC
ROM serial: NTR-YUTP-EUR
ROM internal name: ULTIMATE MK

There is definitely some problem.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

Rom Info
Game Title: Ultimate MK
Game Code: YUTE

It would be good if you add crc and serial in Rom Info.
I always disable the console for playing.

The only time I observe fps hoover around 45+fps is image 2 & 3 where you "select your fighter" & "choose your destiny" which is not slow.

As for the texture bugs, I suppose you are referring to the small thin line that may flash on the screen but it doesn't happen often - similar to those lines in pokemon games but less obvious.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

I get 20 in select your fighter with your rom in 0.9.7 with a default ini file. Perhaps youre using frameskip? Frameskip would have a phenomenal impact in this case since there is an extreme processing load coming from rendering, which is not typical with desmume.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

I agree with you that if frameskip is 0, gameplay is slow but why must we use frameskip 0 when we can check "auto-minimize skipping" & "skip 9" which gives us smooth & fast gameplay.
It is not as though there is jerkiness or game pause due to frameskip - so I can't understand why you use skip 0 as measuring yardstick for this game.

Anyway, you are the developer and it is your choice.
No further comment from me.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

youre masking bugs by using frameskip. if you think 9 frameskips which cant even achieve 60 fps is "smooth and fast" gameplay then you need to check the definition of smooth.

Re: Ultimate Mortal Combat slowness and texture bugs

I am not saying there is no bugs but it is very much playable with frameskip which is why frameskipping is added in almost all emulator(if I am not wrong).
To me, "smooth & fast gameplay" means the game is playable in desmume and I don't see visual jerkiness that will affect gameplay.
A gamer wants to able to play a game(not necessary perfect) while a developer wants to achieve perfect emulation.
From a gamer viewpoint, I don't see this game being listed as "run very slowly"(further speedup can be done - yes).

Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince is one game that frameskipping will make Harry movement very jerky with intermittent pause during gameplay.
This game has to run without frameskipping for smooth gameplay and @50fps, it is "not fast" but smooth.
