But DeSmuME still lives, right? It's dawning on a year since we've last seen an update or heard any official news about the latest revision of the emulator.

A problem easily alleviated by learning to either download and compile the often-updated source code, or to google for unofficial SVN builds.

emucr.com is a great place to pick SVN builds for many emulators, I swear I see a new desmume at least 2 or 3 times a week. Here is a link to their desmume postings:

The problem is that emucr use VS 2010 that bugs the 2d characters.
Just download Visual Studio 2008 Express and compile yourself the svn from source forge. You'll get a faster and better version than the ones in emucr.

I get a boost of 5/10 fps if i build it myself. Don't ask me why cause I don't know...:S
And like I said before, if you build with Visual Studio 2010 the characters font will became all messed up. Some text will be illegible.
The same problem occurs with the Emucr versions so I think that they use the VS 2010 instead of 2008.

had no such problem with emucr build
post screen shot, title and crc32 of title, I'll look into it

Screenshot:
Game: LEGO Batman 2 - DC Superheroes.
CRC32: 30B418F7
Play some new games and you'll see. If you change to Opengl, the text is fixed, but the 3d brokes (on both versions).
Also I got 42 fps on emucr and 58 on my own compiled version. I think it's because the Wifi is enabled in the emucr version.
I used the same settings for both. With JIT enabled and with frame skip x2.

visual studio 2010 is garbage and should not be used. we know for a fact it creates buggy desmumes.
im not sure why 2008 is faster. you could be right about the wifi on emucr builds.

Had no such problem with EmuCR build
using x64 build if that matters, no time to test 32bit
haven't noticed any speed difference either, if there is one then it's negligible on my system

DesMuMe lost tracks of its updates but still it is a more better emulator IMO. With a few tweaks and major revisions it'll be back again!

I think the JIT setting affects how 2d letters look, for some weird reason
