Here' a relevant (and workable) answer, assuming the OP ever comes back to this thread. Note that the instructions below can be adapted to work with any value you'd like to change.
Using the emulator's tools (specifically the Memory Viewer), look for the current value of "money" (convert that number to hexadecimal) that you have in-game, using the largest possible value as a guide (check 16-bit first). Do this on the ARM9 and the ARM7. It helps to have a save state handy in which you have a substantially different value of "money" to compare it to.
Now, save state in game and then (after you have made a copy) open it up in a hex editor (like frhed) and look for the same (hexidecimal) value. Ask the developer really really nicely for the format specifications he uses for his save states if you want to make this easier.
Once you've found the value you're looking for, change it to something else. Load the state and see if it worked.
Or you could just "farm" for "money" ingame and not have to do any of the above. It might take a bit longer, but it doesn't really require thinking.
You can whine to the developers to write a parser and memory-value changer for the NDS that accepts PAR or GS-formatted "codes" if and only if you find yourself incapable (mentally and/or physically) of following those directions and doing a little work on your own.
Then again, if you were adverse to doing work, you wouldn't be wanting cheat codes, now would you?
