0.9.6 virus
after i downloaded desmume 0.9.6 i went to unzip and thought i would scan it for viruses just to be on the safe side and my norton 360 picked up something called suspicious .MH690.A and that it was a Heuristic Virus and i just want to make sure my comp and others arent at risk so could any1 explain why this happened

Someone would've picked up on it by now if there really was a virus in the 0.9.6 archive. If you want to be extra-sure compile the source into an executable yourself.
Heuristics check for files that might sorta act like what a virus might sorta act. It produces a lot of false negatives. I find it odd that anything in the desmume archive should trigger a heuristic alarm, though. What file(s) came back as suspicious during the scan?

desmume uses upx. virus scanners false positive on that sometimes. it isn't a virus. i think sourceforge scans the files it hosts anyway.

the file which was suspicious was cheatsconverter.exe but just so people know i do realize after looking 2 things and they are 1. Norton 360 over exaggerates threats and 2.even if there was a virus it would be a practically useless and pointless one anyway.

If it helps any, it's highly doubtful you'll ever need to use cheatsconverter anyway.

even if by some stroke of bad luck there somehow was a virus norton on my comp will quarantine it for me and also thanks for the help manivo and zeromus

It would also be well to note that Norton is not the best AV doing the rounds. It will miss a lot of things and pick up a lot of things which aren't actually a problem.
