Pokemon Platinum running slow

I'm on a Intel Macbook Pro, 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, and the game is running slow whenever I'm out in the open (it's fine inside buildings), and its even slower during battles (especially when the pokemon come into battle or use moves). I tried setting frame skip to off and this helped when I'm out in the open, but it's still extremely slow in battles. Is there a way to fix this?

read the faq. your system isnt ever going to run pokemon fast anyway.
