Hi, i've been using desmume for a while and i'm a big fan of it. I've noticed that there are some games that are not compatible with it.
Well I got a game, Disgaea and it seems it has problem with the save states. When I save during the game and then later load the state.... well the top screen ceases to function. It looks a bit like on of those glitches you see on the snes and nes, weird pixels doing weird stuff but it's not flashing or anything it just stopped doing anything (like it froze). Can you guys help me out? Should I change the settings of desmume(save type?) or is it just plain not saveable on desmume?
Thanks

You could just use normal in-game saving and post a report of this bug on the bugtracker!

I thought that in game saving doesn't work with desmume or is there a special setting for that?

in game saving works perfectly in desmume. you have old information.
please do post a bug to the tracker, specifically including which part of the game where the savestates dont work and preferably instructions on how to get to that part because disgaea is complex and i dont know anything about it

Mmmm... well then i have another problem i can't save ingame. When i stop playing a rom and then later start it up again the saves are just gone. Im sure i have the latest Desmume (0.9.4).
Then I'll post the bug!
Thanks

You started playing disgaea on an older desmume and your savefile is broken. It will not be possible for your savefile to work without deleting the dsv and starting over unless you follow the steps on the faq relating to pokemon.

I never played disgaea on an older desmume. Actually all my games ingame saves won't work, either there is something wrong with my version or something with the roms. Are there actually any special steps needed to enable ingame saves?

youre doing something wrong. i just roundtripped an ingame save on 0.9.4 in the EU disgaea.
maybe you need to extract the emulator to a folder on your hard disk instead of running it from the archive.

Well what do you know.... it works!!! I deleted the emulator and got one from another source and tested all the roms out and they saved like a charm. So probably it was a bad download. Well you've been great and very helpful, thank you very much and keep the work up!
