Help needed

So today I downloaded desmume and I entered a rom, everything was working fine till I tried to speed through the beginning scene in Pokémon HeartGold, as soon as my fingers hit my keys my screen would shut off, if I hold any key down for more then a second it begins to turn my screen on and off over and over again, I don’t know if it’s my computer or what, any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue?

This is most likely caused by driving the GPU hard enough on your laptop for windows to think it needs to switch from integrated to discrete GPU. set your power setting to full performance and manually select the discrete GPU
