Cheat Engine memory manipulation

Hello,
I played some New Super Mario Bros in the last days. Since tried to manipulate the gold coin value of the game, it worked but then it decreased until its on the old value. Is this a "feature" of the emulator or of the game it self?

Re: Cheat Engine memory manipulation

The emulator does not have a "feature" which remembers numbers prior to your cheating and then slowly changes them until they match the memory. That's absurd. What you're finding is an elementary situation taught in Cheat Finding 101: You're cheating the variable that contains a "current coins on screen" counter and the game is programmed to make it seek the "current coins in hand" variable in another place. If you change what's on-screen, it will seek the in-hand value. You will probably need to cheat them both.
