Import Backup Memory

Hey, just wanted to pop by to say that DeSmuME's an awesome emulator, but I was trying to find out how to import backup memory, and couldn't find anything.

I understand that it only imports certain types of savefiles. Hence you use a converter to convert to say...the M3 savestate type and import that. Then what? I don't see a .dst file made anywhere and the list of save states doesn't change. So what exactly happened? No error popped up so I'm guessing the import was successful, so what else do I have to do?
