[OSX] My Desmume Crashed and I lost all my data

My Desmume version 0-9-8 on the mac crashed and stopped working. I downloaded the new version, but it won't load my saved pokemon heartgold data from the earlier version. I have over 50 hours logged, so if someone could tell me a way to find out how to transfer my saved data that would be so awesome. Thanks!

If you used save states to save your data, then you cannot transfer them to different versions of DeSmuME.

Save states are only guaranteed to work in the same version of DeSmuME they were created from, and are likely to break when used in different versions of DeSmuME. In the future, you should use the in-game save, which has a much better chance of working in different DeSmuME versions.

Re: [OSX] My Desmume Crashed and I lost all my data

Use the file migration assistant to transfer any DeSmuME files from previous versions to the current version.

If you checked "Do not ask on startup", then you can show the file migration assistant again with the following steps:
1. Choose DeSmuME > Preferences.
2. In the DeSmuME Preferences window, click General in the toolbar.
3. Under User File Migration, click Show File Migration Window.

Once you're in the User File Migration window, it's usage should be pretty straightforward.
