I have the same issue on other games. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, Pokemon Platinum and Mario & Luigi Partners in time. It's like the emulator randomly slows down and then go back to normal. I managed to solve this problem by going to Config>Emulation Settings and checking the box on the right named "Use Dynamic Recompiler" and set the value on 50. Also, I've changed the ROM loading from Stream to load entirely on RAM, you can check this also on Config Menu. Try it and see if it helps.

I don't know if this will help you, but I'm currently playing Platinum with the latest version of Desmume 0.9.10 and for it works perfect. On the Display Method menu,I have checked the OpenGL and Filter options. On the 3D settings, I'm using SoftRasterizer and I have all the boxes checked, and the Depth Comparision Threshold on 0. Also I'm streaming the rom from the ISO,not loading entirely to the RAM. Hope it helps in any way and good luck

Agreed with zeromus, pokemon is a kinda slow-motion game. I am currently playing Pokemon Platinum version on the latest version of Desmume, 0.9.10 and it runs smoothly, and perfect with the new speed trick (wich is explained in the release's post). Hope it helps

Agreed with Squall. Altough,you can download it from X,or Y, I usually get them from there, and they never failed me so far
