thats a crazy idea. i guess we'll put it in the list of things to keep in mind on the day we rewrite the display code enough to be able to do things like that.

Awesome, will wait smile

I think a better idea is to simply have the option of making the main screen (not always the touchless screen) bigger than the subscreen (not always the touch screen). Lets say you are playing NSMB, a game that does not use the touch screen. You are probably gonna make the touchless screen bigger. Conversely, lets say you are playing Phantom Hourglass, a game that extensively uses the touch screen. You are probably gonna want the touch screen bigger. Also breaking the screen would mess up games such as Yoshi Island DS which uses both screens.

I think you misunderstood my suggestion. That won't be a permanent mode, just an option for the games which would work good with it.
Your idea, while great still adds too much unused screen space and a misaligned (not centered) current main screen.

Here is a 720p mockup:

Hello.

First I'm sorry if this was already suggested (or implemented) but I wasn't able to find such a feature.
Since we have widescreen monitors it's natural to place screens in horizontal fashion.
But that in turn has a nasty side effect of placing action in one particular part of the screen (be it left or right).

Many games use secondary screen just to display status (coins, char HP, etc) so it's not that important for that screen to be full IMHO.

Can you add an option to split screen according to the following images?

To me it looks much nicer and you actually get the effect like the game was made for widescreen with the gameplay in the center.
If it's too much work to implement stylus then it doesn't even need to be active in this mode as this would obviously be used with games that don't utilities secondary screen for interaction.
