Thanks, Squall! I've been running it with the patch provided by DS Scene, and the game has been running much better. I still save frequently, however

Hello there. I just wanted to preface my post by saying I've sufficiently googled the topic as well as browsed all of the recent topics on this forum. I understand that Heart Gold is inherently buggy for DeSmuME and that the DeSmuME guys won't be fixing emulator compatibility issues with the game any time soon. That being said, I think one of you can still help me.

I'm running DeSmuME 0.9.8 x86 on Windows 7 86 bit. My problems are similar, but not entirely specific to, what a few others have experienced. My game crashes as I move from area to area, out of buildings or transitioning out of wild pokemon and trainer battles. The crash usually involves one of the screens turning black, but is sometimes precluded by the sprites of my character and his pokemon turning into blocks as I travel. It happens about every hour or so.

Now I understand that there's no "official" patch made by the DeSmuME folks, but I've read about custom patches others have made, such as Rudolph's Universal patch. The problem is that all of the download links that I've been able to find are from 2010-2011 and are expired. The ones I have been able to download are compatible only with (I believe) DeSmuME 0.9.6.

My question is this: does anyone know of a third-party patch that has worked for them? Any of them been updated since late 2011? And does anyone have a download link that still works? There a lot of different problems and a lot of different solutions for various versions of DeSmuME out there from various different dates. I wouldn't burden anyone here with an actual post if I hadn't looked down every avenue I could think of on my own. Thanks.
