Can't find saved data

I've put 30ish hours into a Heartgold nuzlock and I hadn't turned my laptop off so I could just open it, but I was regularly saving it. However, my laptop turned off by accident, I go to load the rom and its opens to the start of the game. Have I lost it or can I just not find it

search your disk for .dsv or .dst or .ds0 - .ds9.
stop running desmume directly from the zip file and you won't lose the associated files.
put it along with all associated files in a folder on your desktop
