DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

I'm using DeSmuME v0.9.13 on Mac Mojave, but whenever I try loading my DST saves, it says "Save state failed to load" or it loads, but than says the "Cartridge has been removed" and restarts.

Is there anything I can do? Will transfering these files to a windows desmume result in them loading there?

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

When I go back to 9.11, the save states load seem to load and my old cheats are there, but once I load the state, it states the cartridge has been removed and restarts.

Anyone know how I get the cheats to load in my 9.13 cheat manager, I copied them into the folder?

Also I've been playing Shadow Dragon and New Mystery on my DS, but the tiles for the game's maps always come out looking weird.

Here's an imgur link to showcase the issue.

Should I try updating to macos monterey, is Desmume compatibility better with that version

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

1. you may need to use a newer version than 0.9.13, we fixed some similar bugs in the savestates since then.
2. I doubt 0.9.11 had the same problem as 0.9.13. Your cheats must be interfering. I don't expect cheats to be able to cause that problem, but I can't debug the situation with whatever mess of cheats you have enabled.
3. Changing OS version won't affect any of this
4. To fix the map (maybe) change SoftRasterizer option "enable TXT hack" or choose opengl renderer instead (or choose softrasterizer if youre using opengl renderer now) in 3d settings

1. Where can I download the new version
2. My pre-made cheats simply aren't appearing in the 19.13 version when I click on "show cheat manager."
3. Ok, I'll keep that in mind.
4. I'll try that and tell you how it goes?

Also it keeps asking for permission to use the microphone whenever I open any version of desmume.

1.Desmume-0.9.13-macOS.dmg is the newest one I can see in that link and I already have a desmume-0.9.13-macOS.dmg
? Am I missing something or is 9.14 in development.

Here's what I mean.

The cheat files I created in the older version, don't show up in the cheat manager, even though they're in the folder for 9.13.

X. So you mean stop using a Macintosh and switch to windows. What would be the best way to transfer my Macintosh data to my windows. Please respond when you can, I'm closely following this topic.

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

1. Oops, I thought that was a nightly build link. I guess there isn't one for mac.
2. next version is always in development
3. I can't debug cheat files I don't have. if you send me a cheat file that worked on 0.9.12 and doesn't on 0.9.13, maybe I can debug that
X. via USB stick. Computers operate on files. The files are all there. Look where desmume windows version creates them. replace them with the versions you want them to be.

1. Will there be a Mac nightly one.
2. I hope so.
3. Can I send you my cheat files, what would be the best way for you to receive them. I can also send the savestate files too, see if they work?
4. I tried a passport, it didn't work, but a USB stick sounds good.

1. don't hold your breath
2. but don't hold your breath
3. I dont know, there are 1000 ways to post files on the net. find one for yourself to use. it's sender's responsibility.

what game are you playing anyway? "it" says "Cartridge has been removed"? Screenshots. You can try sending me savestates once you figure out how to send anything, but I think the problem is some broken cheat or configuration you've done

Here's an imgur link. 9.11 and 9.12 does that whenever I try save states, 9.13 simply won't load them.

New Mystery of the Emblem, but it does whether I have cheats enabled or not and it does that on other games too?

Here are my cheats.

Here are my save states.

Could you test them out.

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

The data provided here suggests you aren't aware that savestates are NOT portable across desmume versions. It would be impossible for them to work on 0.9.11 and 0.9.12 and 0.9.13. It would only work on one of those: they will only work on the desmume version you created them on. It's possible you don't know what version that was. If that's the case, you're in trouble.  To make matters worse, "0.9.12" can mean any one of hundreds of builds. If that's the "version" you were using, you may never be able to figure out which build it was.

You gave me 6 cheat files. Five are empty. "Fire Emblem - Shadow Dragon.dct" is not empty. By putting that in my Cheats directory AND NAMING THE ROM TO MATCH IT (that's the detail you probably didn't know) I was able to get it to load. But to do it on windows I had to change the line endings in the .dct file since they came from a mac. WHAT A MESS! I need to fix that in desmume. (FIXED: https://github.com/TASEmulators/desmume … a9e00ab71)

Basically I think the problem here is that you had everything working once, but didnt understand how or the significance of anything you did. Then you downloaded the rom again and a newer version of desmume, and tried to pick it up where you left off. Did I get that right?

Typing on mobile so my response will be shorter for now.

Wait so even on windows savestates are NOT compatible between versions unlike emulators like snes9x?

I’ll give my other cheat files when I get on desktop.

Savestates are NOT compatible between versions unlike (list of emulators where they are).
You should never assume savestates are compatible between versions. That they don't work is evidence that they aren't.

Here's a cheat file from my previous 9.11, tell me if it works for you or if its blank, because when I load it on 9.11, there are files in it?

Do cheat files carry across versions? Also I remembered my save state files were from 9.8.

cheat file works perfectly fine on 0.9.11. Of course you have to have the MATCHING ROM with the MATCHING NAME

But will it work in .9.13 is what I'm asking?

Also yes, my version of FE12 is named Bonus-FE12, because I have a regular save file and a save file with the DLC pre-installed (the version called "Bonus-FE12").

Yes, it works fine (on windows you must use latest nightly build because I just fixed it)

Can I get back, how do I find the "Enable TXT hack", is it in display in Desmume preferences?

Do you see it there? If you don't, then it's not there and it's somewhere else you haven't looked yet. It's in the 3d settings somewhere, depends on if youre using windows or mac.

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

I'm using Mac as said before, where are the 3D settings, are they in display or is it in the view tab?

Is 3D rendering settings what I want, do I change the 3D rendering engine from OpenGL to softRasterizer?

Re: DST files from prior versions not working with Desmume 9.13

Are you asking me if you've found the 3D SETTINGS on the screen where you pick the 3D RENDERING ENGINE?
Are you telling me the UI isn't clear that TXT Hack applies to SOFTRASTERIZER ONLY?

I don't know where the TXT hack option is, can you explain that?

I just wanna know which option can fix the tiles for the Fire Emblem DS games.

I'm also not seeing the option to screenshot in Desmume 9.13? All I can do is set preferences for it. In 9.11, "save screenshot as", was the first option in the tool's tab for desmume?

Jesus H christ, I don't know what it's called on clowncar shitshow macos. Click all the options until you find one that fixes it. If none of them fix it, then none of them fix it. Maybe it's called "fragment sampling hack"
