Hi, I am new to Desmume and when i opened my rom in it showed me this message:
Could not get read/write access to the battery save file! The file will not be saved in this current session.
Choose Config > Path Settings and ensure that the SaveRam directory exists and is available for read/write access.
I checked the the path settings and it just shows me:
SaveRam
Auto save . /Battery
Im/export . /SramImportExport
I can play pokemon platinum but when i try to save in game, it just says that it did save, but it still starts over from the beggining when i open it again. When i tried to use save state, it said: error saving in slot 1 (or something like that). when i tried to use save state as, it created a file but when i clicked load state from, it couldnt find the file or when i clicked load state from, nothing happened.
I have extracted Desmume ( im using Desmume 0.9.13 x64 on Windows 10 ) onto desktop and i have tried to delete it and dowland it again but the message still appears.
btw i have WinRaR installed, could that be the problem?

Is that "Battery" directory exists in executable folder? Is there any files there? Can you create files there?

your username has non-english characters in it, therefore the path the desktop (and the desmume directory and the battery subdirectory) has non-english characters in it, therefore despite 100s of bugs filed and fixed about things like this in desmume, there are still more problems. don't use a username with a non-english character in it (don't use spaces either) and you can avoid a lot of problems with this software and many others.
should be fixed in https://github.com/TASEmulators/desmume … bce32e63dc but only someone unwise enough to use a username with a non-english character in it can test it for sure

Thank you for your reply, but im not sure witch user do you mean and how can i test the code that you have sent me, again, im really new to all of this. Btw i cant find ˝Battery˝ directory in any of my folders.

I mean your windows username. The battery directory doesn't exist because it can't be created. Test the code this way:
1. https://github.com/TASEmulators/desmume … ld_win.yml
2. search for the commit I said would fix it and click it
3. download the artifact which should be linked at the bottom

The in game saving works now! Thank you very much for your help!

you don't update desmume. here's what you do instead. this solves all your problems in one. you get the message about access (can't even be bothered to transcribe the error message exactly? how much do you really care about this?) because you chose to put desmume in a ridiculous location like program files or c:\ perhaps. Use your desktop, you know you have access to that.
1. MOVE all current desmume files to a directory on your desktop.
2. delete the exe and ini file (make backups first)
3. replace desmume.exe with new one

sorry for the error message, it was not in english and i didn't wanted to use google translate, so here is the full message (google translate) :
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.
You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
I created a folder on my desktop and putted in the release. Then, i deleted the original desmume (im not sure about what i did)
I still have the same message
