Hi all, I am new here. I downloaded DeSmuME on Arch linux but I wanted to restore my pokemon platinum save (.sav file) but I couldn't because the menu misses the option "Import Backup Memory". So, what I ve done was to do the same procedure on a window system and then make a save state and transfer that file (.dst) to my linux system but the emulator can't load it. I noticed that when I make a save state file from the emulator on linux, it saves the file as a .ds1 or .ds4 extension, so I tried to convert the .dst file to one of those but the emulator says "it can't be loaded."
So, idk if the process is odd or whatever, but is there in general a way to run a .sav file on linux DeSmuME?
Excuse me for my bad English or if I wasn't clear enough.

transfer the .dsv file from windows, not the savestate.

yeah i did that as well, but still gives me the same error "it can't be loaded"

it's not a savestate, so don't load it as a savestate. The "it can't be loaded" message you can't be bothered to transcribe exactly must be from loading savestates. save files failing to load is usually silently ignored.

.ds1 and .ds4 files were the extension of the save state file and it didn't load it anyway. I know the .dsv file isn't save state but I have no menu options to open the file, because i don't have the "Import backup memory" option, if i can load a file into the emulator, it's just a save state but it doesn't work but idk y.

Oh, I got you mixed up with the other 1000000 people that have this problem. Stop trying to import it. Run desmume, load your game, watch where it drops the .dsv, then replace the one it drops with the one you want to use. Finally run desmume and load your game again.

it's ok, don't worry. When I try to search the .dsv file the computer only finds the one i got from the other computer. Where is the .dsv file generally located?

It works. Try again. You have to know how to think clearly and move deliberately. But you started by saying .sav and desmume doesn't create .sav, it creates .dsv. So if you are renaming a .sav to a .dsv that isn't going to work (and where did you even get a .sav from?)

yeah, I solved. I think the first .dsv file was corrupted or something similar. I tried to do again the same process and it worked fine.
