ROM File gone?

I'm new to emulating, I don't know what to do, maybe the answer is glaringly obvious to someone but I figured I should ask for help.
I emulated Animal Crossing Wild World and played it for around two days now, in that time I did reset by closing the emulator tab (might have been stupid of me, I don't know).
When I started the game up again, everything was fine, Resetti popped up and I was able to continue playing, but this time, I closed the tab and upon opening it up again, my ROM wasnt in the Recent ROMs list, I looked and it wasn't in my ROM folder where I had put it before either. In fact, I can not find the file anywhere on my computer, I tried even retrieving deleted files and I can't find it.
I'm kinda flabbergasted. What did I do to trigger something like this happening? What can I do to get my game back, or can I even?

Re: ROM File gone?

I don't know what "emulator tab" means. I suspect you aren't using desmume.

Re: ROM File gone?

I am using it. By "closing the emulator tab" I meant just closing the application from task manager. Might've been weird wording.

Re: ROM File gone?

Desmume doesn't delete rom files. Your question is about your operating system and general computer operation skills, not desmume.
You are probably running programs from inside zip archives. This doesn't work. Dearchive to a folder on your desktop.

Re: ROM File gone?

Ok, well it seems like there's no sufficient answer. I have properly extracted all the files and I had everything working, I'm no savant but I can work my way around a computer, so I know that it wouldn't just delete a file for no good reason like that. Then again, it may be something that I'm missing. So, is my best bet is to just start over and hope this doesn't happen again? How do I even know it won't?

Re: ROM File gone?

You should assume that it WILL, until you find out why it DID. I suggest you disable your "security" software.
