Click hold + Button combo not working Sims Animals

Im trying to play Sims Animals on my desmume (mac) and i cant get past the tutorial because for doing a certain task it requires you to hold the L or R button while dragging the stylus along the object. Is this supported in the emulator?

Works for me.

Try moving the stylus more rapidly and with a wider swing.
