Upgraded to latest version of DesMUME, but now some roms don't work?

So I just got the latest version of Desmume, and like half the roms I tried didn't work. Every once in a while I'd even get a run time error trying to boot the roms that weren't working.

Examples of roms that did work

New Super Mario Bros
Princess Peach platformer (I forgot its full name)
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney

Roms that didn't work

Radiant Historia
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2
Infinite Space
Final Fantasy IV
Knights in the Nightmare
Dragon Quest IX

So does anyone have any ideas on what the deal is? I might just try to reinstall Desmume when I get back from school later, but this is really strange to me.

EDIT: To be more precise, when I try to load certain roms, nothing happens.

desmume 0.9.10 is a turd. use a new svn build or 0.9.9

What's SVN?

I tried 9.9 and it seems to have the same problem. The same games don't seem to work, and the same games do as 9.10.

9.8 works, but the framerate seems to be a tad off, may have to do with the lack of an openGL option.

Any ideas?

you must have used 0.9.9 in such a way that the .dsv files created by 0.9.10 (which are now broken by 0.9.10) got loaded. make sure all .dsv are clear and try again. all those games arent broken in 0.9.9

Hm..so if I download a rom, and play it on 9.10 does it make them .dsv files? How exactly do I clear them, do I just re-download the rom?

I've downloaded a few copies of these roms and haven't done anything to them, yet it doesn't work still.

Do you have any ideas on how to clear .dsv files? I tried typing .dsv in search and some roms came up, I tried renaming them and getting rid of the .dsv but it didn't seem to do anything.

Re: Upgraded to latest version of DesMUME, but now some roms don't work?

.dsv files are on your disk. delete them. if you `searched` for .dsv (save files) and `roms` came up, then your search program is broken, or you dont understand what files are. perhaps you could start by uncrippling your OS by enabling its 'show extensions' option.

it's still pretty weird that all those games dont work on 0.9.9. Where did you download 0.9.9 from? Have you tried not choosing whichever magic option it is that wrecks desmume on your computer?

Ah, they're save files? I see.

Yeah, they weren't roms, but they were named after the roms; ie "New Super Mario Bros.dsv". I didn't know they were save files, that makes sense.

Hm..so I loaded up a game "Bowsers Inside Story" - and then I noticed inside the "Battery folder" it created a file called Mario & Luigi - "Bowser's Inside Story.dsv".

So what ever reason, 9.9 is making these .dsv files.

http://www.emucr.com/2013/05/desmume-v099-final.html

Could it be that maybe this file is just named 0.9.9 and it's actually 9.10?

Have you tried not choosing whichever magic option it is that wrecks desmume on your computer?

That's the thing, it doesn't seem to work even on the default options. I didn't really do anything.

Well, at least 9.8 seems to work. Is 9.9 a significant improvement over 9.8?

I'm pretty sure all these games work with the latest svn versions of Desmume. Even the emucr builds work without problems.

Have you tried deleting your desmume.ini and starting from there try to look for the option that's causing your problem?

What exactly is SVN?

I'll try that, I'm not really sure what the .ini is though but I'll search for it.
