No Visual, Just Sound

The newest version (9.7) shows only a white screen for every ROM I try, though the sound works perfectly fine. It's a frustrating problem. Anything to recommend? Thanks.

Re: No Visual, Just Sound

The only thing possibly relevant in the FAQ is "Graphics / screens are missing, corrupted, swapped, switched, or black!".

The two pieces of advice here are:You must be using an old ini or config file. Delete it and re-run the emulator.

And:Try switching between OpenGL Renderer and Software Rasterizer.

I have no idea if I have to download OpenGL Renderer or Software Rasterizer separately, or if they came in the download, or how to switch between them. Likewise for how to delete an old ini or config file. Any help is appreciated.

(Also, in case it is relevant, the game is there-by blindly clicking buttons the game makes sounds an reacts, it just has no visuals at all.)

Re: No Visual, Just Sound

Problem half-fixed by going to Config and switching from Direct Draw HW to Direct Draw SW. The top screen is now visible. Switching from OpenGL Renderer and Software Rasterizer does not affect anything at all.

Re: No Visual, Just Sound

the ini file is a file inside your desmume folder which has the extension "ini".
If you can't find it, just delete everything, redownload, and unpack it again. A fresh installation will have a fresh ini file.
Then change to software rasterizer.
If it still doesn't work update directx, I guess. Really, it should be working by now.

If after all of the above you're still getting a white screen on *any game*, then something is either completely broken on your computer or you're doing something horribly wrong.
