So, I deleted my ini file, and this applies to all my games.
Whenever I save a state it says error. all the paths reset every time i close and open DesMume. The settings reset when i close out. Ive changed all the folders to be non-readonly.
So essentially every time i open a game i have to go into the paths, fix all those, and change all my settings how I want them, and manually do most things that the program was obviously intented to do.
I really might just be having a brain fart, but its confusing the heck outta me.

If someone could tell me how to manually save my config i'd be set

quit running desmume out of an archive or from a directory (program files) that doesnt want to give you write access. for instance, run it from your desktop. then the ini file will save correctly.

WORKS! lol thanks. Yeah the directory was effin it up. btw, if you use positives instead of negatives (such as "try running it from a new folder", instead of "quit running it...") It'll make you sound alot less like you might be a douche. Thanks for the help man! It worked great!

Side note: When you try to do something that requires a brain and a tiny bit of common sense in computers, then you ask about a problem caused by writing permissions, you should expect negativity.

I don't expect everyone to understand the suckitude of modern program files. the douchery is meant as a time bomb revelation to these folks. one day they will understand why windows works the way it does, why that might be a bad idea, and then the time bomb will explode, and theyll remember desmume and realize why it works the way it does and it will reinforce the lesson. although to be fair, the modern terminology seems to be 'portable app', maybe we should call it that and people will understand it better? Can you take your average 'portable app' and run it from archive or program files?

Wasn't under the assumption that it was a portable app. Also went into every area imaginable to give permission to write to the install folders, including the registry. Give me some credit I'm not a retard, just was under the impression that desmume wasn't portable. Especially when the guy that suggested the program to me to begin with told me to "make sure you dont f*#% with the original file setup" which SUPPOSEDLY screwed his up.
It never ceases to amaze me... the jackholery of those on support forums...

well, the fact that it doesnt have a setup program and there is no 'install folder' is supposed to be your clue that its a portable app. its an unambiguous clue to me, anyway, and probably at least 7 other people, but i guess it doesn't have that same meaning to everyone.

Did come with a setup program. DID install.

desmume does not come with a setup program. you must be using some adulterated desmume which operates in ways unknown to us and isnt supported by us. Try downloading desmume from the homepage next time and not some other asshat's site. If you do download it from an asshat, then ask him for support.
At first I supposed you were using WinDS Pro? But since that kit (made by someone else) installs to your documents directory, that couldn't be it. So I can't even guess what you've done.
