Hello, I have a problem with the emulator. I got it for Fire Emblem: Shadow dragon and the game constantly slows down dramatically for a while then goes back to normal and slows down again. This was the only emulator I got to work for the ROM I got so i don't know what is to blame, but if anyone can help that would be great.

How would I do that? I don't see an option for it.

--num-cores=# on the command line. I'd link to the wiki buts its considered spam.

if you are running in windows 7 or vista, this will do the trick: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83 … tions.html

It was running on all cores....

You're not playing it off external media, are you?
I.E. No external HDDs, no flash drives, etc.

No I am not.

Might just be your hardware, then. Try the FAQ for tips on improving performance.

I have the same issue on other games. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, Pokemon Platinum and Mario & Luigi Partners in time. It's like the emulator randomly slows down and then go back to normal. I managed to solve this problem by going to Config>Emulation Settings and checking the box on the right named "Use Dynamic Recompiler" and set the value on 50. Also, I've changed the ROM loading from Stream to load entirely on RAM, you can check this also on Config Menu. Try it and see if it helps.

Using this method I was able to speed up the emulator a lot, however the speed still fluctuates from normal to somewhat slow. I attempted to change the ROM loading from Stream to load entirely on RAM, but the options were grayed out giving me no choice to change this setting. any suggestions?

the option for loading the rom cant be picked after the rom is loaded

I also have this strange problem, but the funniest thing is that when it starts to go slow, I make a savestate, then I load it, and the game starts to going perfect again.
Which is the cause of this annoying problem?
Thanks.

your system's fans or opengl drivers being broken

Hi!
Last week I cleaned the fans of micro and video card.
I have the latest video drivers, do not think is a problem in opengl.

latest video drivers may have opengl problems. some systems may have opengl drivers which never work right at all.
are you having problems with this exact game? does it depend on which scene you're in or is it completely random?
Offline
Not exactly with this game, but with "All Kamen Rider: Rider Generation 1 & 2", seems to be random, begins the level and goes perfect, after a while starts to go slow.
While the game is going slow, I make a savestate and load it, and the game go perfect again (without slowdowns), and thus continuously.
One more thing: I do not use opengl, instead I use softrasterizer.
