Can't play the save files.

I didnt know what happened, but I think my deSmuME got accidentally deleted; i put a shortcut on my desktop and when i clicked it it says sth like the file the shortcut refers to have been moved or deleted, I tried to find the file but I couldnt.

So i downloaded a new .9.7version but now seems like I have to restart all my games; the save states data r gone.

Help?

Re: Can't play the save files.

the saves are supposed to be placed in desmume folder. if it was indeed deleted, then the saves would get deleted too. you could search your computer for *.dsv files, in case it was just misplaced. also take a look in recycle bin, to make sure it didn't end up there.

Re: Can't play the save files.

you can't load your ingame saves, or savestates? because savestates aren't compatible between desmume versions. so if you made these savestates using an older version of desmume, you can't load them with 0.9.7, and you would need to load an ingame save. if you didn't save in game, and just used savestates, you'd have to download the version of desmume you used before, load the states there, save ingame, and load the save in 0.9.7. or you could just keep using the older version.

Re: Can't play the save files.

I never rely on the normal save method either. Back on the last version my games wouldn't even save that way if I wanted them to. I would also recommend making a set of folders in your desmume folder for each of the paths and then set them to that location in the emulator it really simplifies things a lot since everything is well organized and within one location.

There's a reason why games wouldn't save properly (from in-game saves). That's usually not a good sign if it happens, mostly it's because you're using Desmume off some kind of portable device and you're doing something wrong with that along the way/you play an unpatched Pokemon game/etc.
