Ledgend of Zelda Spirit Tracks microphone talking?

Im at the part in the ocean where the old fortune teller asks me to speak my gender, boy or girl into the mic.
Im using the internal voice sample which works for just blowing stuff, the flute, etc, that all works. But i think the fortune teller requires me to actually say a word, like "boy" or "girl." does anyone know a way around it? or have voice samples for those words and the other required words like eye color?

you can make a voice sample. go fine a wave editor and save out an 8bit mono pcm .wav file. audacity should work, and it's free. you could also just turn on the actual mic input, but the samples are going to work better.
