Desmume not using system date + time

im trying to change the date and time on my PC to change the ingame date and time for desmume, and ive used this feature in the pass but i cant seem to get it to work anymore. currently its defaulting to "winter" in the game im playing (pokemon white 2) regardless of the date and time i change my systtem to ive tried every month. im on windows 10 and desmume version 0.9.13.

the quick google searches ive done all just tell me the only way to influence the time is through my windows date and time, without any alternative suggestions so im a bit stumped

save in-game and close the emulator. open the emulator, load the game, and load the in-game save.
The time will now be updated
