Pokemon Platinum Save File Corrupted

Hello, I'm currently having problems with Desmume on OpenEmu in regards to saving my game file for Pokemon Platinum.

I have been using the Emulator save structure for most of the game, as when I went to save, the game would say "Saving a lot of data..." and then the dialogue and save game data windows went black. Does anyone have a potential solution for this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: When I restart the system, the game tells me that the Save File is corrupted and it reverts me to a way earlier point in the game. I only cared about this issue once I beat the Elite Four, as the game requires you to save once you do so.

Re: Pokemon Platinum Save File Corrupted

are you using the latest build?  if not download the latest build of desmume on desmume.org download section.  if you are using the latest build  try deleting your ini file.

I believe I am using the latest build, but I am going to try and download Desmume seperately and load the save files there.

when you went to save, was it at the moment after you beat the elite four?

No, the save file went out sometime after I cleared the Eterna Galactic Building and before I beat the third gym leader. I kept playing regardless though which is in hindsight not the smartest move.

Are you sure you weren't playing heartgold or soulsilver? Did you ever use a cheat? Did you hack, patch, randomize, or otherwise alter the game? Did you attempt to use wifi features in the game?

Re: Pokemon Platinum Save File Corrupted

I was playing Platinum. Oddly enough, I did not have this problem when I previously played HG and SS on the same version of the emulator.

I didn't alter the game whatsoever up to the point to where the save corrupted, but I did change my Pokemon's EV's before I prepped for the E4 using PokeGen AFTER the save file corrupted. PokeGen has never given me any save corruption issues before in versions HG/SS, B/W, B2, so I find it odd that it is doing it now. I also did not make use of any WiFi features to my knowledge.

Maybe I accidentally talked to the wrong NPC and they sparked a WiFi feature to go on without my knowledge? Or maybe it is a ROM issue?

Thanks for your responses so far. Truly hoping to get to the bottom of this.

Re: Pokemon Platinum Save File Corrupted

This would be the first coherent report ever (amidst 1000s of rambling, incoherent, useless mumbles from people that did actually cheat) that there is an actual problem saving the game in pokemon platinum. However, many bugs in the saving code were fixed after 0.9.11. Which version of desmume were you using?

If you could play through the game again, taking copious savestates and making manual backups (you should end up with 100s) and get a savestate soon before the save which breaks the game, there's a chance we can fix it. But you should use a recent buildbot build.

I don't know what "rom issue" means, but pay attention to whether you do anything like sparking a wifi feature.

Also check and see if your broken .dsv file is now the "wrong" size (youll know the right size, because that will be the size of a fresh desmume .dsv file saved at the beginning of the game)
