Re: desume wont start

install http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download … px?id=5555 and https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa … px?id=8328

youll probably also want to install the directx web updater.

microsoft ships their operating systems without critical dlls. why?? nobody knows. they ship it with GBs of other junk you cant easily get rid of.

Re: desume wont start

Windows8 includes the DX optional components (though they're Win8 only versions so you have link against the old ones if you want to target <8) and the new universal runtime hopefully solves that problem going forward.

Re: desume wont start

What does that have to do with anything? He's running the software, not linking, and the universal runtime i dont know anything about since I read it wouldnt be supported on XP. Sounds useless to me.

Just saying hopefully these problems will go away in a few years as the world upgrades (except you I guess in which 10 is the new 6).  VS15 and its new runtime does support XP though it not distributed by Windows Update like it is on Vista/7/8.

Re: desume wont start

10's the new 6 for me, unless someone proves 2015 generates faster code. 2012 and 2013 are worthless. 2015's excruciating and makes me want to kill myself but at least it's got good enough C and C++ compliance now to justify being used for something other than pissing me off.
