Now that you know how to find the .dsv file, i suggest you copy it every time you finish an in-game save.

Okay. So then, I guess the lesson I've learned today is that you shouldn't fricking leave food or drinks on top of your computer while you're playing a game. As for my situation, I'm thinking of letting it all go and start a new game on OpenEmu and use the Cute Charm glitch there instead.
Thank you for your help!

Sounds like F3 or F4 could have done that.
Data loss can occur any time you spill fluids in your keyboard.
If you're investing a lot of time into a document, such as an essay for school or a videogame playthrough for fun, you should back up the files.
If you had backups if your .dsv battery save document, you could restore it. Maybe you already have a backup solution running on your system from which you can restore an older .dsv before you accidentally.

I'm sorry, but can you elaborate? As in, what steps do I need to take to get to restore the file? Is there an application I may need to download? I hardly know anything about this sort of thing, and Youtube tutorials won't always be specific enough, so I need the solution to be really detailed.

Thanks so much for the reply.

Edit: Gosh, turns out the button responsible for this was F2 all along.

Edit 2: Alrighty, what I was able to do so far was go to File> Reveal Game Data Folder in Finder> and from there I saw the Battery and .dsv files you were saying. Sadly I didn't find any file from this day, and all I did was throw away the Save Slot. So, it's gone now, but I'm still left off from where I was standing in front of Ho-Oh. hmm

So today I caught a shiny Ho-Oh after a painstaking amount of Soft Resets, and immediately saved after it happened. So then, I was playing Pokemon Storm Silver as I normally would, and I just so happened to be drinking soda. I left the bottle close to my Mac's keyboard, and suddenly it slipped, pressing buttons *which I think* were F3 and F4. And that triggered the game to return to a saved slot, when I was still battling a normal Ho-Oh for a test capture, which was days ago. Naturally my reaction was both surprise and confusion so I clicked the reset button. And alas, when I started the game, it reverted back to when I was still in front of Ho-Oh, meaning that not only have I lost all my progress but a shiny I've worked so hard for, went down the drain.

I am so angry right now you have no idea. I actually threw the game and Desmume to the trash because I felt my soul leaving my body.
Can anyone explain what was the reason for this happening? What exact button did this? Is there any possible solution to this (I honestly don't think there is)? Should I really just leave shiny Ho-Oh behind and continue my journey?
