Hey guys,

Just to open up some discussion, for everyone using 0.9.6, what games do you think is the hardest to run at full speed? As in which games are running pretty slow for you all as of now?

#2 Re: Support » Running really slowly » 2010-05-15 01:12:00

lol too funny

anyway I do believe Pentium Dual Core e2180 is still newer and faster than the Pentium D pianodev has so you'll definitely have better results.

#3 Re: Support » Running really slowly » 2010-05-14 19:41:22

Fine let's put it this way: Pentium D is much older than a Core 2 Duo 8400 and performs worse probably from other architecture reasons despite it being dual core as well.

@pianodev: You sure u followed everything in the FAQ to boost performance like change to Software Rasterizer and stuff?

#5 Re: Support » Can't load Savestates » 2010-05-12 01:16:54

Did u make that savestate using 0.9.5?

Make sure teh savestate file (ds0, ds1, etc) is in the correct directory so desmume can recognize it. Not sure what else though...

#6 Re: Support » Action replay problem » 2010-05-03 22:35:33

I'm pretty sure you don't need to use a master code. I've used codes fine without it before.

I am getting tired of defending the opengl renderer, since i never use it and it isnt the default anymore, but honor compels me to point out that SOMETIMES it is faster.

Alright point taken smile

Nice job improving ur situation, but this method isn't novel. I assume most people have already been using the software rasterizer, which is faster than OpenGL anyway. So in the end, switch to Software Rasterizer to increase your speed for anyway not already using it.

And it's true, Zeromus is the final boss of Final Fantasy IV. You can also battle and obtain Zeromus as an esper in Final Fantasy XII for anyone interested.

Oh there is a whole discussion going on in the link Shash put in his post. Personally, I can get onto the GTS and search for pokemon. I didn't actually trade with anyone, but I'm sure you can. Battling apparently is slow, but I haven't tested that yet.

#10 Re: Support II (decommissioned) » How Do I Get the Wifi to Work? » 2010-04-20 23:20:44

I believe wifi is implemented in the SVN builds now, not the current 0.9.5 on the site. ( pokeshit)

#11 Re: Support » How do I use pokesav? » 2010-04-18 23:02:25

lol omg i didn't know the site got shut down.

No, just go to File > Export Backup Memory in desmume. That will create the sav file you need to edit. After deleting the old .dsv file and putting in the new, edited .sav file in the directory, desmume will recognize it and create a new .dsv file based off your .sav one. Desmume will only use a .dsv file for saving, and when one is not provided, it'll try accessing a .sav file instead.

#12 Re: Support » How do I use pokesav? » 2010-04-18 21:43:40

wow alright time to teach ppl about Pokesav and desmume tongue...

Since Pokesav only works with .sav files, you need to go to File > Export Backup Memory which will create the .sav file (desmume uses a new save filetype .dsv which can't be used for Pokesav). You can also use Manivo's link to convert stuff. Make sure the new .sav file is the exact name of the game ur using.

Edit that .sav with PokeSav then put it back to whereever your other save files are. Delete the old .dsv file (if one exists for your game) so that desmume will load the new, edited .sav file instead. Then your good to go. You'll have to do this everytime you edit stuff because Desmume will create a new .dsv file based on the .sav file you made. The dsv file must be deleted or moved so that it will load the sav one instead.

alright sounds good. I guess it won't mean much for me as I'm a Windows 7 user

This is pertaining to the SVN build of desmume since the Display Method setting was added post 0.9.5. What exactly does this setting do? I was switching between Hardware and Software modes and I didn't exactly see too much of a difference, so I was just wondering.

Thx

#15 Re: General » Slowdown issues in Pokemon games. » 2010-03-18 22:44:52

It's really up to you. I feel desmume is much more compatible with games and emulates may graphical features that NO$GBA doesn't seem to be able to. Then again, NO$GBA hasn't been updated in literally years. NO$GBA does feel faster in cities, so you can choose which one. Desmume will get there eventually.

#16 Re: General » Slowdown issues in Pokemon games. » 2010-03-17 01:03:03

Slowdowns in cities is common for those games on Desmume. I get them as well. Nothing u can do but do what zero said. Wait until the developers get Desmume up to speed.

#17 Re: Support » Rotation Inquiry » 2010-03-16 01:59:09

Hmmm I had the same problem and it has to do with Professional not incorporating x64 files in the SDK or something. Try installing the new Windows SDK v7 (go to Microsoft and search it). That may or may not fix things. Maybe reinstalling? I'm too busy right now but I might be able to find out how I fixed before.

#19 Re: Support » Mic support in DeSmuME 0.9.6 svn3380 » 2010-02-15 23:51:13

I should work. Is the mic not working in a specific game?

#20 Re: General » Thank you DeSmuME » 2010-02-15 23:47:08

Lol, well I thought I loved Desmume but a tribute...wow

Why would u need to press L+R??? It really shouldn't crash. U using AR codes or something?

#22 Re: Support » Pokemon Change » 2010-02-06 14:31:39

wow alright time to teach ppl about Pokesav and desmume tongue...

IDK why the emu turns black, but since Pokesav only works with .sav files, you need to go to File > Export Backup Memory which will create the .sav file (desmume uses a new save filetype .dct which can't be used for Pokesav). Make sure the new .sav file is the exact name of the game/rom ur using.

Edit that .sav with PokeSav then put it back to whereever your other save files are. Delete the .dct file (if one exists for your game) so that desmume will load the new, edited .sav file instead. Then your good to go.

I doubt desmume is your problem. Follow nut's instructions and do a general PC cleanup & maintenance. Desmume on my Windows 7 machine doesn't crash the system.

Oh thanks XD. So for the conclusion: it's the action replay code's problem, not the emulator's problem.

It may not be all the time but for this case it's most likely smile

for technical reference: games which do very evil things can easily crash the emulator right now, as its stability is dependent on regular behavior. Games that crash for any reason, including mis-application of cheat codes, could crash the emu just from memory-stomping from still poorly coded things.

hell AR codes can crash games on teh real DS, this is no exception
